Ms. M Sneak Peek

It's only Tuesday and I've already shot 7 ladies in my home studio. It has been SO great. Between the champagne, the makeup, the girly movies and the beautiful ladies I could not have asked for a better weekend. I have several more girls scheduled before the week is over, but while I have a moment I thought I'd share a few with you.

This is Ms. M and she was such a blast. She is gorgeous and the wonderful Lindsay Schneider did her makeup. I can't wait to show you all of her photos, but here are a few to give you a taste of how gorgeous she is!

Actions, Textures and Fine Art Pieces

Some of you may have seen a few of my new experiments on Facebook with textures. I've never seen these used in boudoir before and I think they give the photos a totally unique look. While my normal photo style is bold colors and a soft glam glow, these textures make the photos appear almost like a fine art piece.

One of my favorite products that I sell is a canvas wrap. This is where your photo would be wrapped around a large piece of wood, much like a real canvas. I think these photos would be perfect for that! Until I can order one, here are a few samples.

PUBLISHED: Boudoir Photography Network

I've had the amazing honor of one of my blog articles being published on the Boudoir Photography Network, another website I am proud to be a part of. Photographer Robin Owen had a vision to create a site where women could easily find photographers in their area who specialize in boudoir. With a recent re-design, the site is up and running and better than ever! I hope you'll check it out.

Ms. L's Big Reveal

Ms. L and her wonderful husband have been kind enough to allow me to share her gorgeous photos with you. And before I do, let me just reiterate that any photos you see on my website and blog are used with permission from the model. In fact, you are in control of which photos you'd like me to use. And out of respect for your hubby, make sure you run it by him too ;)

Ms. L and I have worked together for a few years now and even though I know she is beautiful, it was so fun to see her all glammed up! We spent the week before her shoot texting and e-mailing ideas back and forth and we had a great time trying them all out. While she had MANY beautiful shots, these are my personal favorites.

And my ALL-TIME favorite...RAWR!!!

Introducing the Makeup Madame

Since I have my Grand Opening coming up, as well as some other fun events, I wanted to formally introduce my awesome makeup artist, Lindsay Schneider. Lindsay is the Makeup Madame of Denver and I am thrilled to be able to work with someone of her talent. I recently interviewed Lindsay so you could all learn a little more about the woman behind the brush!

INTERVIEW WITH THE MAKEUP MADAME

1. When did you know you wanted to become a makeup artist? My sister was a model for years and I was around the industry at a very young age. Most young girls first lip gloss is Lip Smackers, mine was MAC. I knew when I walked into the MAC store I wanted to be a makeup artist, and I followed my dreams <3
2. How long have you been a makeup artist and what sort of training did you go through? I've been doing makeup for over 9 years. I worked in Cherry Creek North and freelanced for various salons. I worked at MAC Cherry Creek for over 5 years. I went though extensive training with MAC and became a Product Specialist. I traveled to different Nordstroms and would educate people about MAC and how to apply their makeup.  For the past 2 years I've had my own company- and love every minute of it. I'm very blessed to wake up every morning and do what I love to do!
3. What is your favorite part of the job? Least favorite? My favorite part of my job is making people feel beautiful. It is such a good feeling to hand over a mirror to a client after the makeover is done and they just light up :) My least favorite part of my job is how women are so hard on themselves, and how Hollywood has such an effect on how people perceive themselves.
4. How do you stay "fresh" and keep up with the current trends of makeup? I'm a huge Internet and magazine junkie!! I'm on the Internet probably 2 to 3 hours straight a day :) Oh and I'm addicted to E! News and Perezhilton.com (hahaha)!
5. What is your favorite/ craziest  event you've ever done makeup for? Well....I did a Merkin fashion show :)
6. If you could be doing anything else besides being a makeup artist, what would it be? I would think about possibly being a Personal Assistant.
7. What do you like to do when you aren't working? Working on my newly purchased home with my boyfriend. And hanging out with family and friends.
8. Favorite movie? Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Sarah Jessica Parker at her finest!!9. You're stranded on an island, what 3 things do you bring? 1. Black Liquid Liner 2. Mascara 3. MAC Lip Glass
10. Most important makeup tip you could give someone? BLEND!
11. What are your top 3 favorite makeup products and why? This is probably one of the hardest questions...I would say hands down first is moisturizer. All skin types, including oily skin need moisturizer. I recommend a tinted moisturizer with an SPF. It leaves the finish of your skin ready for any makeup products and protects you from the sun. "If your skin looks amazing, the rest of your makeup will be amazing" Second, I would say a great mascara. I don't see a need to spend $30+ on a mascara. There are amazing mascaras at Target, Walgreen's etc. Most people don't know this, but you should change your mascara every 4 weeks- this helps pervent eye infections. Finally, I would say lip gloss!! I personally use a tube of lip gloss every 2 weeks.
12. Why do you feel makeup should be part of every woman's life? I always tell women, even my soccer moms, to devote just 5 minutes to your makeup a day. It will make you feel beautiful! It's amazing what 5 minutes can do:) If makeup is or isn't your thing, having a great skin care regimen is essential for any skin type, texture and tone.
13. What do you like about doing makeup for boudoir shoots? It is honestly all about the smoky, sultry makeup. I love that kind of makeup. Who doesn't love bedroom eyes?

Thank you, Lindsay! And you can have Lindsay do your makeup for just $40 at my upcoming mini-shoots! Spots are filling up so contact me today to reserve your spot.

Sneak Peak of the Lovely Ms. L and my ad goes live!

I feel like it took forever to get to yesterday. Even though we only decided a week ago to do Ms. L's shoot last night, we were so excited about it and sent so many texts back and forth that it felt like the day would never come. But it did, and we had a BLAST! Her two hour shoot was nothing but pure girly fun from the Bitch Bubbly we drank, to the false eye-lash application, to her many outfits! I can't wait to share all of the photos with you, but for now, here is a sneak peak. YOWZA!

And, in other news, my info is finally up on the Divas' Boudoir International Referral List. Hopefully when people are looking for a boudoir photographer in Colorado, they will choose me!

Creating a Button for your Website

It took me 2 hours, but I finally figured it out! I wanted to create a button for my website and blog and have the ability for other people to copy the button and put it on their blogs. This is pretty typical blog etiquette, a you-scratch-my-back and I'll-scratch-yours type of thing.

So I Googled "make a button" and several sites came up. I tried the first few, but I was having problems. Then I found THIS SITE for directions, loaded my jpgs. to Photobucket,  and it all became so clear. I was able to create two buttons, one for my blog, and one for my website. Honestly, I had no idea I could do this myself. I thought I had to pay someone to create these for me. But I did it!!! And that means you can do it too.

If you are interested in adding my button to your blog, please copy the code to the right and enter it in your Add HTML option on your blog's design area. And feel free to e-mail me your blog buttons as well!

FEATURED: The Boudoir Diva's Blog

This is an exciting week. It was my oldest daughter's 6th birthday, my parents' anniversary, I am starting to get my home studio ready (should be up by the end of the month!) and I have a few shoots scheduled that I am really psyched about. WOW! As if that weren't enough, I just received an e-mail from Ashley over at the Boudoir Divas (if you haven't heard of them, then where have you been?!) They are THE boudoir experts and have a fabulous studio in San Diego. I've learned so much from their materials and have nothing but respect and admiration for them.

As you probably read in my earlier post, I had the extreme honor of being chosen as a part of their International Referral List. When I was accepted, I wrote them a thank you note letting them know how grateful I was and put it in with my signed contract. Which leads us back to my e-mail from Ashley. She said the Divas were touched by my note and wanted to share it on their blog. And how could I refuse the Divas? =)

Here is the link to The Boudoir Maven's first web feature...couldn't have asked for a better web debut! Thank you Divas, you are wonderful and I hope to meet you someday soon!
