Pretty much everyone has seen them, the beautiful old-school pinup paintings of women making every day tasks look flirty and sassy. Gil Elvgren is the artist behind these American icons. I recently picked up a copy of The Complete Pin-ups...a GORGEOUS book showing off more than 500 of his paintings and sketches.
Though his career took off in the 1930's, in the 40 years he was an artist he captured the true beauty of ordinary women and made their everyday tasks look like fun. This book has SO many great ideas for future shoots. If you are interested in doing an old-school pinup style shoot, look up some of his work online, or grab a copy of this book to get some ideas. Here are a few of my favorites:
Who knew a towel on the head could look so darn cute?! LOVE the bathtub one.
Everyone loves a French maid...and how about that first pose? Better start practicing that one!
Love this one for a military wife checking out a letter from her man.
I always wear a teddy when I'm washing my husband's long johns, how about you?!
